Problem with 2.2.4 installation and MySql

i have copyied and extract the http://modx.com/download/direct/modx-2.2.4-pl.zip file.

After that i have start the setup and select the "new installation" option. In the next step "Database connection and login information" i typed in the complete database information. Then i clicked on the "Test database server connection and view collations" link.

Now i see these error:

Connecting to database server:  
Could not connect to the database server. Check the connection properties and try again.

I use php 5.3.10 (CGI/FastCGI) and mysql 5.1.61

The database user probably needs to be added to the table name.

i.e.
userName_modxTableName

Make sure the user also has full permissions for the database.

trying to move site, get the same error on localhost move, and with no errors can't connect in hosting. "new install" is fine with the same user and pass.

it is not a database problem. I have now installed the 2.2.1-pl instead of the 2.2.4-pl
With the 2.2.1-pl i have no problems. crazy ...

How did you extract the files from the 2.2.4 zip? On the server itself or was it extracted on your machine and uploaded via ftp?

FTP has been known to miss or corrupt some files. Extracting the zip on the server itself is much safer.

Did you also try another extraction from a newly downloaded 2.2.4 zip file?

I have used wget and unzip at the Linux console of the webserver in both cases
