Answered Package Management fails to find local packages

Hi all,

I'm trying to install the Login package to an internal server that lacks internet. As such, I rtfm and saved the the transport.zip to my core/packages directory. When I go to the package manager, I 'search locally for packages' with no luck - my package list remains empty.

I've spent the last day and a half going through the forum and trying different 'solutions' to this problem, but haven't had any luck yet.

System:
ModX 2.2.4 (no errors during installation)
Apache 2.2.15
MySQL 5.1.52
RHEL 6.2

Things I've looked at:
File permissions and ownership on the transport.zip file and packages directory (currently 755/644 for directories/files owned by apache:apache)
cURL is enabled
magic_quotes and safe_mode are off
Directory listings in the various config.inc.php files
Using the manager in both Chrome and Firefox
Clearing the cache (both for ModX and the browser)
Unzipping the file in the packages folder

Any insight into a trick or setting I may have missed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there anything in the core/cache/logs/error.log file when you search locally?

There are a few repetitions of "Could not connect to provider at: http://rest.modx.com/extras/" but I believe that's from me being clumsy and clicking 'Download Extras' instead of the little arrow next to it. The times don't match up with when I've tried searching locally.

i have run into the same issue on Revo 2.2.4 with the PrettyGallery Add-on. I copied it over to core/packages and it is not recognize in the package manager when I "search locally for packages". Nothing is in the error logs.

I just repeated the same steps with PrettyGallery and it worked as expected. Anyone have any ideas or additional information?

To make sure I am doing this correctly...I copied the folder "pretty gallery-1.0.-beta1" to core > packages. Go to Package Management and choose "Search Locally for Packages". That should be it...right?

Well I have a update to the story... I did the exact same thing with the Gallery package. And it worked. Only the Gallery add-in showed, not Login, despite both being in the same folder and having the same permissions.

So I deleted the Login.transport.zip file, re downloaded, moved it back in and changed permissions as appropriate. And now it worked. I have changed no settings since this morning... only tried to load a different package. I had no trouble installing either. Very strange. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm glad it's working.

No, you just copy the transport.zip file into core/packages/ and choose "Search Locally..."

If you're copying from one MODX install to another, there are two files in core/packages for every package. You only want to copy the one that ends in .zip (usually the second one listed).

The other file is created during the install and won't be recognized as a transport package by Package Manager.
