    I Have used modx before but I have never installed and configured it myself before.

    Here’s what i know

    Web Server:

    * PHP 4.4.3
    * Apache and unix

    Database:

    * MySQL version 4.1.21

    MODx:

    * 0.9.6

    Browser/Client:

    * firefox 2.0.0.5
    * ie7

    Basically I didn’t have any trouble with the installation until right at the end. I set up the database and user, and made sure the right files have the right permissions. I followed all the steps on http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Readme_File_en-us but for some reason it stalls half way throught the list of modules being installed. I waited for as long as i thought i should but was never taken to the installation complete page/screen. (between step 7 and cool
    I tired loading the manager/index.php but i just get a blank page.. completely.. no source code even.

    Thought it might be something to do with the .htaccess file? but don’t really understand what thats for. I tried repeating the installation 3 times and also tried accesing the manager from different machines. so am a bit frustrated
    Anyway. would appreciate any help.

    thanks!

      When you say stall halfway, what is the last item shown as installed on the page?

        "Breadcrumbs: Upgraded" was the final item

          well.. finally installed.

          I tried several clean re-installs reaching the same conclusion each time.. the installation would fall over somewhere in the Install results page.

          Eventually it worked when I used total commander instead of smart ftp to send up the files. Don’t know why it worked.. but i don’t care really. Now i can build!
