Webinex 0.3.0-beta - webinar management for MODX Revolution

I'm very excited to have submitted my first extra. It's a comprehensive webinar registration management system, with a custom resource class and user class, supporting multiple presentations, presenters, webinar registration (via formIt hooks), and affiliate referrals.

While it is designed specifically to manage webinars, it could be adapted to other types of event registration.

Webinex is not an actual webinar presentation platform (such as ReadyTalk, goToWebinar or Webex) or a marketing automation system (such as Eloqua or Marketo), but is designed to be used in conjunction these services to manage presentation and registration for webinars on your website.

W00T! Webinex was accepted into the Repo today, and is now available through Package Management.

Interesting idea with the new class key and extending default modResource Learned some new tricks looking at your code. However, if i could integrate this with some frontend editing snippet would be perfect. Any plans for that ?

I wasn't planning on making a front-end editor, but I'll look into the possibility of integrating with NewsPublisher. That might be somewhat difficult, as I would have to figure out how to get NewsPublisher to save data to the presentation object, so it might not make it into the next release. Maybe in some later release I can add this functionality.

(Of course, if you want to do it and put it in as a pull request I'll be happy to include it.)

I've been looking for a more generic event management, including registration addon, and have evaluated this addon from that perspective. I must congratulate you on the completeness of the solution for webinar specific use. For a beta, it is extremely polished.

For my use however I need something less specialized for event management (something between say mxCalendar/EventsX, etc. and this I suspect). Maybe easier to "dumb this down" than to try and make the previous tools smarter or more flexible, especially in the area of registration, where most fail (or at least fail to document how).

I really think there is a good use case for a solid event management addon with a registration component. I know I would use it on at least 3 of my sites.

Again, grats on a very nice addon. Just wish it was dumber;)

harveyev, thanks for your comment - yeah, I thought about trying to make it more general for managing any type of event, and I may still do that at some point. But for my purposes I needed a lot of webinar-specific stuff and, especially since this is my first extra, I thought it would be easier to specialize than to generalize. Besides, there are already several event management extras as you point out.

Now that I think about it, maybe the way to go would be to make a generalized event management extra, and create separate, dependent extras for managing specific types of events - so you could have a webinars extra, a conference extra etc.

That would involve a bit of reorganizing the code though.

Anyway, sorry this didn't meet your needs in this case, but thanks for the positive review anyway!
