I have created a TV with the image widget so editors can (you guessed it...) upload an image. Some of these images I later wanted to delete using ftp. But I can’t delete them; I get a permission denied error in my ftp program:
    Command:	DELE /assets/images/werk/mini/img1.jpg
Response:	550 Could not delete /assets/images/werk/mini/img1.jpg: Permission denied

    Is this supposed to happen?

So I thought I’d use the MODx file manager to delete the images. But I can’t use the file manager at all. When I go to Resources > Manage Files I get this error message:
Warning: dir(/www/htdocs/myname/) [function.dir]: failed to open dir: Permission denied in /www/htdocs/myname/manager/actions/files.dynamic.php on line 393

Fatal error: Call to a member function read() on a non-object in /www/htdocs/myname/manager/actions/files.dynamic.php on line 396

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here? I’m using MODx 0.9.6. Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks for MODx - I love it!

File manager should work just fine with MODx 0.9.6.

Maybe a folder access problem? http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Installation_Guide

Thanks for your reply. The permissions are set the way they should - except for a subfolder in the images folder. I created this subfolder using the TV image widget, and I can’t change its permissions through ftp. Right now they’re set to 755. When I try to do CHMOD in my ftp program I get this error:
        Command:	SITE CHMOD 777 /assets/images/werk
Response:	550 Could not change perms on /assets/images/werk: Bad file descriptor

So... I’m pretty sure this is not supposed to happen? huh

Did you set the right permissions in config? you can set what type of chmod flag you want to set when creating a folder.

the only way to delete the images is to use the resource brouwser or the file manager because those are the same user (most likly apache) but when you use ftp you are not apache but the user you use to login.

another way to change this would be if you have root acces on your server...

OK, thanks. That explains why I can’t delete them with ftp. But do you have any idea why the file manager isn’t working at all? I didn’t change the permissions in the site config.
