Hello Modx community,
I’m in the middle of deciding to build my next site with modx. The main things this project requires are registration/login, forum, newsletter, flash quiz. Also I will be synchronizing a database from another website into this one so peoples profiles are updated instantly with points/results. It’s a gaming site with multiple access levels based on a persons performance.
Just wondering what would be the max/break limits for some of the features I require? Would there be limits to the amount of people modx could process at the same time? I know the newsletter has it’s issues, but what about the other features?
Thanks a bunch
Derek
it will depend entirely on how you have implemented your hardware and software configuration. A dedicated high performance server with a dedicated database-server will of course be able to perform much better than a cheap shared hosting environment. You can also have optimisation and caching mechanisms installed on your PHP server (f.e. Zend, Turck etc.), use MODx build-in caching, tuning your webserver software for performance, make sure your SQL queries and custom PHP scripts are optimised etc.
we run some MODx based sites that easily can handle over 4000 unique users a day without even reaching to 1% CPU load on a dedicated linux server.

Thanks for the reply!
Glad to hear someone has tested the program, 4000 uniques should be more than enough for what I’m after....
look like it’s modx for this project.
great product, and forum, keep up the work!
