Dear Wise people of the Internet,
I'm new to MODx (a week in), and am using the Manager function online and not Evo or Revolution. In a new position at a new company- I have been placed in charge of implementing a featured content slider on our homepage, something I have been able to do with sites of a more traditional makeup. (But being new here means I have no history with this CMS or with the design and development of this site.)
However, any new images I upload and anything I try to build here on MODx doesn't work. I'm no web-coding genius but this isn't my first time doing this. I have waded through multiple tutorials but what I cannot get to work is:
-image links are always broken, even when the path is correct
I have no idea where to put the javascript calls :
-in a chunk and call it in where needed?;
-in the header?;
-in a div inside the template (seems so inelegant)?
If someone could point out a recommended resource that doesn't assume knowledge of MODx or the use of Evo or Revolution it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Can you tell us more about your environment and how you're attempting to insert images?
You can put your js calls anywhere you like, although they'll slow the site considerably if they're in the header. The footer works much better. Using a chunk that can be called with a TV can be useful if you only want to use it on certain pages, or you could use a similar, but separate template for those pages. Just duplicate the current template and change what you need, assign that template to the pages in question.
What version of MODX are you using? Is there no one at your workplace who knows about how the site was built?
Additionally, FYI, the MODX manager is available online, located in a subdirectory of your MODX installation, there's no other kind of manager interface (offline). You can always access the manager through a browser by using yourSiteName.com/manager.
