External links appended to site URL

Hey guys, I've been looking through the documentation, and I can't figure out how to get around this problem. Every time I use an absolute link, it's appended to the base url, so for example:

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/28/how-meditation-may-change-the-brain/

inside of an href attribulte outputs

http://www.leafspirit.com/”http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/28/how-meditation-may-change-the-brain/”

Sounds like you have some kind of plugin changing links? No idea otherwise...

Tried like hell to figure it out, and I narrowed it down, and it appears that the only links which are behaving this way are the ones inside Articles resources, but this doesn't make sense to me that links within articles would have the base_url prepended as well as not stripping the quotes, while every other link on the site whether relative or absolute shows up correctly.

EDIT: Funnily enough the page source shows the HTML for the links correctly, so I'm now thinking Articles might not be the culprit, but it's only happening to links in the content section of Articles. I can't think of any server settings or plugins that would be to blame, so I'm not even sure at this point if this is even a MODx problem. Ok, I feel kinda stupid now. Turns out, when I pasted my text from OpenOffice, somehow it preserved the formatting of the quotation marks around the links, so they showed up quoted, but I guess where encoded wrong. So I had to manually replace all the quotation marks in the links with quotation marks haha

another reason for this behavior ist not adding "http". If you don´t add http it ist relative to the site-root.
