    I've followed http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/FormIt, http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2011/03/08/modx-revolution-for-complete-beginners-part-9-using-formit-for-contact-forms/ and http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/FormIt.Examples.Simple+Contact+Page#FormIt.Examples.SimpleContactPage-MyEmailChunk%28TplChunk%29. Mail() works b/c a simple PHP form emailed successfully. SongRequestEmailTpl is a properly defined chunk.

    Here's my code:
    [[!FormIt? &hooks=`email,redirect` &emailTpl=`SongRequestEmailTpl` &emailTo=`[email protected]` &redirectTo=`8` &validate=`name:required,email:email:required,song:required`]]
    [[!+fi.error_message:notempty=`<p>[[!+fi.error_message]]</p>`]]
    <form action="[[~[[*id]]]]" method="post">
      Name: <input type="text" name="name" value="[[!+fi.name]]" /> <span class="error">[[!+fi.error.name]]</span>

      Email: <input type="text" name="email" value="[[!+fi.email]]" /> <span class="error">[[!+fi.error.email]]</span>

      Song: <input type="text" name="song" value="[[!+fi.song]]" /> <span class="error">[[!+fi.error.song]]</span>

      <input type="submit" value="Submit" />
    </form>

    Result? Page reloads, no email is ever sent/received, no validation occurs and the page doesn't redirect to the resource I'm telling it to.

    Why? [ed. note: envycreative last edited this post 14 years, 4 months ago.]

      I have fixed the issue. I somehow magically found myself back on the Package Management OVERVIEW (not download) page, and realised that the two plugins that are sitting there quietly have a tiny green "install" button on them. Unbeknownst to me that, once having downloaded the package successfully (I can only assume from the progress bar that briefly flashes on the screen), one is actually supposed to take oneself back to the Package Management overview page, and hit that little green button.

      JFC.

      Please leave this up in case anyone else has such UX problems.
