Template Variables as static element (file)

Hi guys,

We are trying to use static elements that was introduced in Revo 2.0.
It seems to work well for chunks and snippets, however for Template variables it just saves the value in the field?

Is this by design?
It not much use for TV's then if thats the case, as the file itself will not effect the settings and options for the TV?

Correct, at the moment static elements only handle the source "content" of an Element, and in the case of TV's this is simply the default value (default_text field).
