    I have looked through the posts here, but have not yet found anything that relates to my current situation. I need to shift the site I have been developing from its current mode of access in a subdirectory to a subdomain (wherein the said directory receives its own subdomain status), e.g.
    http://www.sitename.com/cms => http://cms.sitename.com/.

    Does anyone know how to do this? I expect that a setting somewhere within MODx was set when I installed it, but I cannot find it.

    I reason I need to do this is so that I can run some other stuff from sibling domains.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

      MODx can live anywhere. It sounds like you have a subfolder on your server where this MODx installation lives, something like "/home/yourusername/public_html/cms/". That path the only thing MODx cares about.

      If you want the sub-domain to point to that folder you have to set that up in your web hosts Apache configuration. There is nothing you need to do in the MODx manager.

      The only thing you might need to change is the the line in your .htaccess file.
      Change:
      RewriteBase /cms

      to
      RewriteBase /

      since it is no longer pointing to a sub folder of another domain, but to a new separate sub domain.
