    Hi,

    I have a gentoo box running MODX 0.9.5 RC2, Jot 1.0 and Ditto 1.0.2. I have a blog, and I allow anonymous folks to post comments. Some clever spammer (maybe several of them .. lots of different IP addresses) decided that my blog was probably full of people who were really interested in porn and cheapo prescription drugs. So the spammer did the obvious thing and posted 5 spam comments on one page 15483 on another. I deleted the 5 by logging in as an admin and clicking on the convenient red "delete me" button. I don’t really want to do that for the remaining 15483. Is there some way to do it in bulk? If it helps, every single comment on that page is spam, so I don’t need to be selective about deleting them .. I’d like to just blow away every comment on the page.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Michael

    P.S. I thought about posting this in somewhere else, like the Jot forum, or the Ditto forum, but it wasn’t obvious to me which one would be most appropriate. I also didn’t know if Jot/Ditto handles this itself, if I need to install something else, or if I need to paw around directly in the database. If this should be posted somewhere else, please either move it, or let me know so that I can repost it.

    P.P.S. I tried to do my due diligence by googling for the answer, but I didn’t find anything. It’s pretty hard to narrow down a search for "modx delete comments" smiley. Anyway, apologies in advance if this is in some obvious FAQ somewhere .. I looked, but couldn’t find it.

      You’d have to make a SQL query and do it at the DB level.

        @rthrash: any chance I could get a quick walk-through for how to that? The page ID is 49 and I haven’t mucked around with the database at all, so it should look just like any generic MODX database. I just don’t know much about databases, so I don’t really know how to construct the right SQL query.

        @ganeshXL: nope. No captchas. I turned them on when I first installed MODX, but all of the captcha gifs were broken. My blog is quite small, and only interesting to family and friends, so it’s been up for a couple of years and this is the first round of spam-comments that I’ve gotten. I suppose I’ll have to figure out what was wrong with the captchas and turn them on now, though smiley.

          also, check out the &badwords parameter for jot. You can use this to reject posts with spammy content like "<a href", "Cheap Vaxadril", "Soccer Moms", or "Pirates".
          &badwords=`<a, href, viagra, microsoft`

          then use the &bw parameter to tell jot what to do with the comments that contain these nasty words.
          0 = do nothing.
          1 = do not publish the comment. (default)
          2 = reject the comment.
          &bw=`2`
