    Server Details
    Linux - RHEL 5
    Apache - 2.2.3
    PHP - 5.2.17 (mod_php)
    MySQL - 5.0.95
    MODX - Revo 2.2.2

I've tried installing MODX twice, and both times after it's complete I try to login with the default admin info I created. I get the following error: "That account could not be located. Check the username and re-type the password to try again"

I was curious and went into the db. I first looked in the modx_users table. There is, of course, only one entry at this point and the 'username' field is blank. I also checked the modx_user_attributes table. The 'email' field in the single entry is also blank. It seems like when I create that initial user as part of the install it's just not storing the information. If I manually enter the username into the table then try to login it says my password is incorrect. So then I manually entered the email address into the user_attributes table to have it reset my password, but the email never arrives.

Does anyone have a solution or know why it seems to be not creating the initial user properly?

Maybe your DB user (the one whose credentials are in config.inc.php) does not have full rights to the DB?

It could also be a missing or corrupted file in the install, especially if you transferred the files with FTP.

The db user is a master user with full rights. I transferred the zip file to the server via ftp, and decompressed it via SSH.

I don't know what would cause that (especially twice). Maybe your download of MODX is corrupted?

I have the same problem with a new installation of MODX Revolution 2.2.6-pl traditional

            PHP Version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.26
            Linux client-8.shared.hosting.tiscali.sys 2.6.24-32-server #1 SMP Mon Dec 3 15:56:05 UTC 2012 i686
            Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) mod_fastcgi/2.4.6
            MySQL Client API version 5.0.96

            system requirements are ok

Upload the unpacked files to the server using FTP
during the installation on domain.ext/setup don't present any error
the modx_users table is empty 0 records, other tables instead have data entered

            :(
