Revo installation Ubuntu 12.04

Hi,

I’m a bit new and trying to setup a modx server for a client and just don’t get it to work. Currently stuck at the Database connection and login information and don’t get pass that.

Configuration is as follows:
Ubuntu 12.04
Default LAMP install
PHP 5.3.10
MySQL 5.5.22
modx-2.2.2-pl

I supply all the database login information and click the Test database server connection and view collations
Reply come back as
Connecting to database server: Success!
- Checking MySQL server version: OK! Running: 5.5.22-Oubuntu1
- Checking MySQL client version: OK! Running: 5.5.22

Then the dropdown lists for character set and collation is empty.

Tried to create database first with the character set as utf8 & utf8_general_ci with no success.

Any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.
