Hi, i made a post some weeks ago relating to an installation of Tinymce on revo 2.2.0pl, of which the conclusion of all the posts and feedback was to completely uninstall and remove the package before re-installing it (see https://forums.modx.com/thread/?thread=76418&page=1 ). The issue i had with Tinymce was that after having it installed on a site in modx revo 5 months earlier, suddenly, by so much as selecting a document / page in the tree, rendered the page with dozens upon dozens of empty line breaks, paragraph tags and spaces, which destroyed the given page's layout. The finger was pointed at Tinymce, and sure enough by trying to remove it, all these empty tags stopped being placed all over given pages. I have to point out that my client barely used the editor and most updates to page content where carried out by myself w/o using the editor during the whole time. It's only when my client started to use the editor more (a couple of times), that all the errors started happening.

Tinymce obviously needs re-installing so my client can edit their site which was the whole point of setting up the site in revo. After completing new stages of work on the site, i have re-installed it, and the very same thing happens again. I've followed all instructions such as-

    1. Uninstall & then remove (although doing this never seems to remove it at all since it stays in the grid with the update button highlighted in orange).
    2. Delete all content of core/cache folder
    3. Clear site cache..

Having done all this it will not remove, and any time i reinstall it, the problems returns. Short of moving to a completely new CMS where you can edit page content, is there any solutions or suggestions that might help me to avoid having to do this on a sizeable site?

I can't get TinyMCE to uninstall or remove from the grid after uninstall either (it says it uninstalled, but it is still there, and works). It's not wreaking havoc, but does insert spaces before and after inline paragraph links and also before the first word in each paragraph. Uninstall and reinstall sounded like a good place to start for a solution but it doesn't uninstall. I'm afraid to delete the package manually, in case I miss something.

Magic quotes are off at php.ini in the root and have been for some time, set by the host individually for all the modx domains. Two sites so far have this issue that I've noticed.

I've managed to completely remove Tinymce (so it appears anyway), as in it no longer appears in the grid.. I went through the 3 steps mentioned above by uninstalling, removing (force removal), clearing cache and deleting core/cache, only this time repeating these steps multiple times over and over again and eventually it went away. My worry here is now having a sizable website on a CMS that isn't a CMS if that makes sense, since there's no way for my client to edit it..

Is there any other rich text editor at all available that might be worth trying which will work? Since my first post here a short while ago i've been looking again and found something called CKEditor? Does anyone have any experience of this and is it something that will work in Revo?

From my experience it seems that when you do a 'removal' that only the latest version of an extra is removed. So if you have an extra that has been updated several times it takes several removals to remove all traces of it! This actually makes sense since if you want to revert back to an earlier version then a removal removes just the latest version and one can then install the older version which is still there without having to download (upload?) it.

Yes, you often have to uninstall, then *remove* several several versions. When you remove the package, the next oldest one will show up in the Package Manager grid. When no version shows up, you're done.

That said, uninstall is not %100 reliable for all packages and sometimes you have to go into the DB in PhpMyAdmin and search for the component name to clear everything out.
