Accept Terms box on first entry using cookies

Hi folks,

I'm using MODX Revolution 2.1.2-pl (traditional)

In a bid to comply with the new EU regulations on cookies I am trying to understand how to add a simple message to my site as follows;

i) On first entry to the site (regardless of entry page) I would like a message to be displayed, ideally across the top of the page on top of the regular content, with an option to agree or disagree.

ii) If the visitor agrees, then a cookie is set to remember the agreement and the message removed from the screen.

iii) If the user disagrees then the user is redirected to another page with a button to leave site / close browser.

The cookie being set must make sure that if a user revisits the site and has already agreed with the message on first visit then they are not asked again.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I know there are any number of issues with browser settings to prevent the cookie being set etc, and users using multiple browsers, but the basic coverage I've described will be more than enough to comply with the regulations.

You might want to look at http://silktide.com/cookieconsent for thoughts on how to handle. They seem to have a good idea. The UK seems to have opted for another year of implied consent which allows site owners to not have to worry about it for now.
