Answered Moving MODX to a new server/location/path not working

    So client happy, we happy, let's put the website live.

    We've developed our website on www.domain.com/dev/ and want to move to the root to www.domain.com

    Before doing this I changed three files:
    (http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server)


    • /config.core.php
    • /connectors/config.core.php
    • /manager/config.core.php

    Now I can login in the CMS.
    Next I change the /dev/ folder to /-dev/ to see if the CMS is still linking to any file in the /dev/ folder.
    It does.. the CMS wants to show the welcome.php page on the /dev/ path: 

    Could not find action file at: /www/v/a/n/domein.com/public_html/dev/manager/controllers/default/welcome.php


    When I rename the /-dev/ folder back to /dev/ I only see the welcome page.
    The leftbar <div id="modx-leftbar"></div> is not showing up.

    And I can not open any page from the navigation in the CMS.

      did u deleted all cache files?

      although i think u missed a file or a path isn't correct.
        Evolution user, I like the back-end speed and simplicity smiley

        Sorry to say this by what a horrible CMS to move to the live site.
        When moving to another folder it takes me hours of uploading 6000 files and my back-end is broken.

        I've uploaded the three new config files. I've deleted the cache files.

        I can not acces the CMS anymore, (I changed nothing on the database) I get this error:

        Fatal error: Call to a member function getMessage() on a non-object in /www/v/a/n/domain.com/public_html/dev/core/model/modx/modmanagercontroller.class.php on line 552

          Lucas, can you send me some FTP details? Should be a quick fix, but it's a bit hard to see where it went wrong from the outset.

            So much went wrong today. Want to know and learn how to do this different for the next MODX pages.

              Looks great Lucas,

              Only complaint I would have ( and just my opinion ) is to set the PROJECTEN items on the home page ( the scroll ) to a set height and position the button at the bottom so they all line up and don't expand to push the footer down

              Nice looking site though shocked)
