I've been going in circles for a month trying to use Manager. Symptoms change on a daily basis. Sometimes I can edit resources, sometimes not. Sometimes I can view/edit System Settings, sometimes not. It's a permissions thing after my site was moved to a new server. But trying the various "fixes" I find in other threads is difficult because I keep running into issues with httpd owning the files. The latest is a change I made to config.inc.php. But I can't upload and overwrite the existing file because its owned by httpd, not my ftp login user.
Who should own all the directories and files in the MODx file structure? Once I get my hosting provider to change the account that PHP runs under how do I change ownership of all the directories/files, or do I need to? Are there other processes in Apache, or Apache itself that need to run under my ftp login account?

Hello,
The files need to be owned and executed by your user account. You will need root access to the server to change the permissions, which you host should be able to address. If not you may want to consider a MODX Friendly hosting company.
