    Hello,

I have looked all over these forums and have not landed on a clear resolve for the upload issues for the newest Gallery. The only upload is the batch upload. Does anyone know what the issues is with the uploads?

    Thanks

I have uninstalled the 1.5 gallery and the thumbnailof and it has gotten worse, the images are not showing up. Is there anyone out there that could suggest another gallery that will work? I tried cliche and the upload will not work. I have spent days working on this for a client and I will never recoop the time in money. I have scowerd the forums and everyone is having issues with this , but there seems to be no definite solution. So I am suggesting they remove this gallery plugin from the packages and offer on that works, until at which time the bugs are worked out. There also needs to be a better tutorial that shows the step by step installation and configuration.

I agree. I have the same issue as wholein1. It is equally concerning that nobody from modx has responded to this issue since the post was made one month and two weeks ago. I tried both Gallery and Cliche and also found that uploads were not working. Are there specific settings that need to be enabled in the php.ini file in order for galleries to work in modx? Are there specific system settings that need to be enabled in modx in order for galleries to work in modx? What is the issue? There is a lot of time being wasted trying to get these components to work and it is enough to cause people to want to leave modx for another cms once again. modx has been a cms that offers a lot of features that I like, but frankly I have had a lot of problems with it and I have been a tech and a programmer since grade six and I am now 40 years old. It gets old. Please, somebody, respond to these simple questions.

Also, if I perform a batch upload the gallery does load pictures but then I can't delete them using the gallery interface. I have to manually delete them using FTP and MySQL. Rediculous.

            Siteleas,

If my memory serves me write I went back to an older version on the gallery and it worked. I am at work and cannot look at it, but try it and let me know.

            Thanks

What version should I try and how do I retrieve it to try it out?

I want to say 1.4 or 1.3, but Like I mentioed I can't look it now. You will have to download it from MODX and then import the file from package. I am trying to remember if I had to upload it to the sever first. You should be able to find a tutorial on line on uploading new packages to the package manager

What happens when you try to upload images? Is there an error message or does it just hang? Have you checked the error log? Do any of the upload options work?

Could it be a permissions issue?

Okay, call me dumb if you want, but frankly, I believe that if MODx wants to be a serious contender in the marketplace, for people who are used to Wordpress, Dupral, Joomla, etc, they really need to do some kind of quality control on component submissions.

Also, as for these wonderful forums (I really love the way they operate - how do I make one just like this?) it seems to me that it wouldn't take a lot to have a resolved flag (boolean field - yes/no) that the poster could check and if there problem was resolved in a reasonable period of time, say 30 days, then all is well. If however a poster did not get a resolution to their problem (ie - resolved check mark checked) within 30 days a report would be sent to a MODx moderator who would investigate the matter.

MODx is a wonderful product, but frankly as someone who has been programming and developing websites for many years, some MODx components are not very intuitive to newcomers and even after hours of fiddling, sometimes the components never do work as described. That's enough to cause people to give up and look elsewhere (and likely will send people to a poorer quality CMS/Framework than MODx), and I think that is a shame.

MODx deserves top marks for being well thought out and versatile, but as far as quick and easy is concerned, not so much, and primarily because a person doesn't know if they are just dense or if in fact the snippet, or whatever, is just not working (and if it isn't then why isn't it)?

Also, there seems to be a problem with the developers of the components providing proper documentation/troubleshooting methods. This would take a little of the frustration out for newcomers or even seasoned pros that can't seem ,for whatever goofy reason, to get a snippet to work (despite their best concerted efforts).
