    Hello,

I just experienced my first annoying incident with MODx. But hey, it’s not so bad anyway. Here it is:

I set up a MODx website on an existing webserver in a new folder "2007". All works fine and a few hours ago, work was done, so I wanted to move it to the top level directory. And then the horror: My server has reserved the folder name "/manager" an automatically directs me to the server interface. Damn. My hoster says, he can’t change it because it is hard coded (I don’t know if that’s right).

Renamig the manager folder ends in a desaster. Nothing works any more. I tried to fix it, but I soon ran in more and more problems. But I could see that the cornerstone for a variable manager folder name is set: MODX_MANGER_PATH. Will it be possible in future versions to give the manager a folder name as I like?

    Greetings
    Martin

This is going to be possible in 0.9.7, when you can customize the location/name of any of the MODx directories. MODX_MANAGER_PATH and MODX_MANAGER_URL constants will be defined and used at that point, but currently, there are numerous dependencies on the manager/ directory name.

As for your host, this is the Tomcat default for their admin panel as well, and is a common conflict, but I do believe it can be configured to any URL if I’m not mistaken...

        That’s good news smiley

Well I already could hardly believe that tomcat can’t be configured with a different directory than "manager", but my hoster’s answer was: try to rename the directory of you CMS wink Well, It’s great when it can be done in 0.9.7.

Ooops, I just remember what the support said. He can’t change the folder because it es set for a wide number of virtual hosts, not only for me. If he changed it for me, all the other virtual hosts would be affected.

But nevermind, the hoster is okay, and MODx is even better smiley

        Thx
