I’m using the MODx pre-made .htaccess file to handle rewriting URLs, working perfectly. Now a situation has arisen - I need to be able to access a subdirectory ( domain.com/ControlPanel/ ) - and I think the .htaccess (as is) is rewriting it. How could I modify the .htaccess file to allow accessing this address without breaking everything else? thanks for any help.

You can try just copying the .htaccess file that is inside the MODx manager directory into your ControlPanel directory. All that one does is to turn off URL rewriting. If you can’t write to that directory for some reason, then you could also change the main .htaccess file’s rewrite rules to only run when "/ControlPanel" is not present in the URL string.

You can probably load the files in the ControlPanel directory now, btw. The trick is just to use the full URL (including the file name, e.g., index.php). I’ve installed forum programs in subdirectories on MODx sites a lot, and I just need to make sure that my links include the file names (e.g., www.mydomain.com/forums/index.php).
