    I posted this earlier but never received a response. I was hoping some of you with MODx experience could help me figure this out. Here’s my situation...

    I recently installed modx vs 0.9.6, on unix server, and didn’t have any troubles until I started moving documents under parent docs (in the tree on the left) and then I started getting a 500 server error in manager. I don’t know if it has anything to do with moving the documents around or not. I tried moving a document under another and somehow got a duplicate parent/child tree. After this happened is when I stared getting the 500 server errors. It seems like I only get the errors when I move a document or delete a document, but after refreshing the page in manager then I see the move or delete changes were made successfully and the error goes away. So at least the manager is still functional in a way.

    The weird thing is that I don’t see those particular documents that were part of the duplicate parent/child situation anymore, even though they are still accessible live by their id, but not with the friendly url.

    Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening and how I can fix it? Thanks for any suggestions and help!

          I’d start with your web host to see what’s happening in the logs.

            I found the error log. Here is the info...

            [25-Jun-2007 16:03:44] PHP Warning: main(/home/bakersga/public_html/IM/manager/includes/protect.inc.php) [<a href=’function.main’>function.main</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/bakersga/public_html/IM/index.php on line 55 [25-Jun-2007 16:03:44] PHP Fatal error: main() [<a href=’function.require’>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required ’/home/bakersga/public_html/IM/manager/includes/protect.inc.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/bakersga/public_html/IM/index.php on line 55

            Here is line 55 from the index.php file...
            require_once(dirname(__FILE__).’/manager/includes/protect.inc.php’);

            Does this give you any ideas as to where I might focus to fix the problem? Thanks!

              Well, for a start, check that protect.inc.php is actually in: manager/includes/

              Looks like not all the files have successfully been uploaded - if you FTP’ed them onto your web server then this can happen, I’ve had it a few times myself. If the file isn’t in the folder, then you will need to reupload it.

              I’m not really sure if the missing file is the root cause of your problem though, but it needs to be sorted out anyway.

                Yes, the file "protect.inc.php" is in the manager/includes/ directory. And it has data.
