    Hello,

I recently installed modx vs 0.9.6 and had it installed and running in no time. I didn’t experience any problems until after I started moving documents under parent docs and then I started getting a 500 server error in manager. I don’t know if it has anything to do with moving the documents around or not. I tried moving a document under another and somehow got a duplicate parent/child tree. After this happened is when I stared getting the 500 server errors. It seems like I only get the errors when I move a document or delete a document. After refreshing the page in manager then I see the move or delete changes are made successfully and the error goes away. So at least the manager is still functional in a way. The weird thing is that I don’t see those particular documents that were part of the duplicate parent/child situation anymore, even though they are still accessible live by their id, but not with the friendly url.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening and how I can fix it?

    Thanks for your help!

    Brian

possible Mod security setting in your host server. Try search Modx wiki for possible solution. I had one server did that to me in a similar way.

It could be mod_security or a problem in your .htaccess file. First thing you need to do is check your server to see how apache is running and what modules are installed and their settings.

For instance, if I try to do use .htaccess to handle gzip or mod_security because my server has Apache installed as CGI it will get 500 errors if I try to do overrides or turn on gzip compression in .htaccess. Basically you may not be able to use php directives in .htaccess but need a php.ini file in each of your directories to handle this.

        All the best,

Similar problem occurred for me tonight. Site has been running fine nearly six months... then one day while working in manager screen goes blank. I try to log back into manager and the pages load about 50% of the time and are blank the rest of the time. When the blank pages appear I get the following errors in my error log (I am only having problems when in manager, I uploaded a new manager folder from a fresh install and got same problems):

            Bedradsm:

Sounds like your host modified/upgraded the PHP configuration and it seems it no longer allows the include_path setting to be changed using set_include_path() or ini_set(), which the MODx manager currently requires. You can try to solve it by adding to the include path in an .htaccess file in your manager/ directory as some others recently had to do at MediaTemple when using the DV accounts:
            RewriteEngine Off

            # Add the manager/includes/ to the PHP include path manually
            php_value include_path ".:/var/www/vhosts/compasschurch.org/httpdocs/manager/includes/"
