For anyone looking at this issue even after this thread is so old, I found the issues to still remain in Internet Explorer 10.
<input type="hidden" id="rememberMe" name="rememberme" value="rememberme" checked="checked" />
This hidden field also works.
Additionally, I WOULD NOT SUGGEST ANY ONE FOLLOW the instructions provided at
http://mercstudio-tech.blogspot.mx/2010/11/modx-ie-login-problem.html if you are interacting with the session before a user logs in and are needing to pass their previous activities into the authenticated session.
For example, an e-commerce site which allows items to be placed in a cart. Typically, developers will pass that cart id into the new user or attach the authenticated userid to the cart.
A post by a Microsoft Engineer provides some additional information for consideration:

IE10 has some of the same issues.
Snippet Call:
[[!Login?loginTpl=`lgnLoginTplIeFixed`&tplType=`modChunk`&rememberMeKey=`rememberme`]]
Keep in mind the Elements provided by the Package should never be edited, so I duplicated it and defined it in the Snippet call....
