    hello guys!

just noticed a very undesired behavior in the lastest revo (dunno if it was in previous ones).

i just deleted the table (manually) "modx_site_tmplvar_contentvalues". i wanted to default all tvs to their default.why? because i want that all documents update their tv when i edit the standard content of the tv.

and now i noticed that whenever i save a document all the tvs content (of this document) are saved to the table. so if i now again change the pre-content of the tv (i wanna edit it on all documents that way) it would not apply to this document.

thats sucky because i have some tv's like navigation links.
and normally they all the same on all documents. but i wanna have the possibility to change it on a single document if needed so i store the links in a tv and not on a chunk. but normally when i wanna change the nav from now on i edit the tv pre-content and all documents gets the new nav. but not with thi s behaviour. because now all saved documents use the old tv content cause they saved it to the db even if i dont changed it.

i would like that modx just update the table "modx_site_tmplvar_contentvalues" if the tv content is different to the default (or is explicit set).

    someone get me?

    greetings

If you set a TV with @INHERIT (http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/@INHERIT_Binding), and set a value there for all documents in the root, then you can change the children as you like. Not sure if this is what you're looking for...

        thank you microcipcip,

but unfortunally not what im searching for. i just hoped tvs are filled by the prevalue except when u override it directly in the document (this is the behaviour i think it should be).

        for example:

create tv with default content: "foo"

        next step:
create document "a" - (no changes to the tv (just access)) - so the tv output should be: "foo"
create document "b" - (no changes to the tv (just access)) - so the tv output should be: "foo"

        next step:
update document "a" - change the content of the tv to "bar" - so the tv output should be: "bar"
no changes to document "b" - so the tv output should be: "foo"

        next step:
change prevalue of the tv to "foobar"
so the tv output of document "a" should be: "bar"
so the tv output of document "b" should be: "foobar"

but unfortunally the behaviour is not so (it is just that way if not touch the documents. but if u save for example different things than tvs as like the content of the document the tv is also saved). dunny why!

        greetings

I've seen other reports of the same thing. I think it may be a bug in 2.3.3.

          Please report it at http://bugs.modx.com
