Error on installation, please help!

Hi all,

I am new to Modx. I have uploaded the files and gone to setup. I have got as far as adding the database information however the following error appears when clicking create or test selection on your database:

Checking database: MODX could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again.

I have contacted my host and they have confirmed that all of that all of the Modx requirements have been fulfilled and are setup. I have also manually setup a database and user with all privilages.

Any help would be really appreciated.

The database user that you've entered does not have the appropriate permissions to create the modx database. You can manually create it with phpMySQL (if that utility is available to you in your hosting account).

I had this problem with 1&1 host. The good database name was in the field but modX keeped telling me that the check have failed.

Try to empty the field, then clik on check. For me, it said it was OK and then, before clicking on next I fill the field up with my database name

Reviving this old thread because I had the same problem and was pulling my hair out. Checked and rechecked db name and admin name, password, etc.

The solution as you stated, was to leave the database field blank. Hit the test database link, then once the check is completed, reenter the db name and continue with setup.

Very strange behaviour but I'm hoping to save other users the same aggravation.
