LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY as we are seeking someone who can in the office as needed. Expected 20 hours/month of contract time.
The contractor selected will:
1. Fix issues
2.Take graphics work from a teammate and implement it in beautiful, accessible, and standards-compliant HTML/CSS templates.
3. Be very proactive and able to identify workflow issues in our website's data architecture and reorganize/maintain the CMS implementtion.
4. Be a seasoned software engineer and able to read existing PHP code, implement requested features (often with vague or incomplete specifications), and have great problem solving skills to quickly address and fix defects.
Job Responsibilities:
•Implements features and maintains existing PHP, SQL, and Javascript code.
•Works with the marketing and business development teams to understand and design planned features.
•Responds promptly to high priority defects or other issues.
•Communicates often to keep the team abreast of status and any planned downtime.
Minimum Technical Qualifications:
•Intermediate to advanced experience with HTML and CSS.
•Modest to intermediate experience in web development, particularly with open source tools including Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, and Javascript.
•Modest to intermediate knowledge of object oriented design patterns.
•Modest to intermediate experience writing SQL queries.
•Modest to intermediate knowledge of search engine optimization.
•Knowledge of templating, data architecture, and separation of content from presentation.
•Familiarity with implementation and development using 3rd party APIs and frameworks.
•Proficiency with basic Linux administration duties and performing basic scripting tasks.
•Ability to balance urgency with longevity in coding.
•Experience using MODx CMS.
Desired Technical Qualifications:
•Experience developing custom Javascript with jQuery and implementing jQuery plugins.
•Familiarity with object-relational database access layers (ORMs).
•Experience using web services (SOAP, REST, XML, and JSON).
•An understanding of version control systems such as GIT, Mercurial, Subversion, or CVS.
•Knowledge of big-O notation as it relates to efficiency, complexity, growth rates, and limits.
