Here’s the problem: I’ve just installed 0.9.6 on a new server. My 0.9.5 install’s db data has been migrated over. I’m in the process of moving other resources over.

But I’ve noticed that there is no tab for chunks in 0.9.6 resources, and that chunks don’t appear anywhere else.

Have I missed something basic? The db data was backed up and then pulled into mysql in the usual mysql way.

Most likely your manager user/role does not have the new permission set. Chunks now have their own permission in 096.

Is there a changelog/release notes document around somewhere describing the most important changes 096 brings us. Specifically i’d rather learn about pitfalls (if i may call it that) like omnivore ran into before i upgrade than after i’ve done so.

See changelog.txt that is in the root of the install folder.

I’m logged in as the admin - and there is no tab at all. Is that expected behaviour?

Check the role of the admin user group. I suspect you didn’t log out of the manager session before upgrading.

This isn’t an upgrade: it’s a fresh install of 0.9.6, with data moved from a 0.9.5 install. I’d like it if someone could confirm that chunks are supposed to appear as a tab in the manager (or not), because that tab does not exist in the places I’ve looked. Other tabs like templates, snippets are there: but not chunks.

Sorry for the late reply to Ryan and others - travelling.

I think that I have some insight into what my problem is: I created a new install of 0.9.6 on the new server; I then took 0.9.5 backed up data and attempted to upload it to the db; this caused a hang, so I instead backed the data up again and this time included DROP TABLE statements; this worked, but caused the 0.9.6 schema to be modified. Presumably at this point the fields relating to chunks were lost, and modx as a consequence does not display that tab.

I’m going to try re-uploading the modx install files and re-run them: I hope that this will recreate the schema and give me the stuff needed.

**UPDATE** by reuploading the install directory and treating it as an upgrade, I now see the chunks tab in the manager.

You cannot install 0.9.6 and then replace the db with one from 0.9.5. You need to put the existing db in place and run the upgrade from 0.9.5 to 0.9.6 or you will not get the db structure changes or new data associated with 0.9.6, which includes a new set of permissions for working with chunks separate from snippets.
