    Hi,

    Have very little experience with web, servers, ftp and everything else that most people probably take for granted.

    I get this error when entering my connection information for installing modx 2.2.1

    Connecting to database server:
    Could not connect to the database server. Check the connection properties and try again.

    [2012-04-16 05:58:12] (ERROR in xPDOConnection::connect @ /hsphere/local/home/johnsmit/riskip.com/core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php : 2998) SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/db/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

    [2012-04-16 05:58:12] (ERROR in xPDOConnection::connect @ /hsphere/local/home/johnsmit/riskip.com/core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php : 2998) SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/db/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

    I have looked around the forum and added a script to check my PDO, and i get an error message. This has lead me to believe i need to edit my.ini file as my 'PDO configuration is not configured properly'. Shouldn't install be easier than this?, its a fresh install, ive triple checked the credentials but cant get it to work. This is where im trying to put it: http://www.quadrahosting.com/web-hosting/features/apache.html

    Thanks in advance for any recommendations

    Here is another unrelated questions.:

      The version of Evolution will be displayed in the upper right hand corner to the right of the logout link.

        If your version of PHP doesn't have the proper PDO drivers then it won't work. Make a file called info.php and put this in it:
        <?php
        phpinfo();

        then save it to your web root. In your browser address window, put htt://yourdomain.com/info.php. Scroll down the alphabetical list of installed modules. You should see something like "PDO" and "PDO Support Enabled" and "PDO drivers dblib, mysql, odbc, pgsql, sqlite, sqlite2 "

        You must have at least PDO itself enabled and the mysql drivers installed.

        What is your platform? Windows? Linux?

              Can you try going to Reports -> System Info? The first line should tell you what version you're running. At least that's where it is in 1.0.5.

                Any ideas on the error messages?

                  Can you write some simple PHP code to connect to MySQL? Take MODx out of the equation, try just simply connecting.

                      ok, no it doesnt,
                      I cant connect to mysql so i guess its not a modx issue
