    I am using MODx 1.0.5 and eForm v.1.4.3 on the website in question.

    I have been using eForm for over a year with no problems. Recently, my client informed me he was not getting emails. I checked his contact us page form, and he had removed the eForm snipplet call parameters from the contact us page. I quickly pasted the original code back into his form and saved. Should work as normal. Well..... it does work normally for any other e-mail address I use except his. Like i said his e-mail address worked fine for years.

    I logged into his hosting account and pulled up his e-mail account and tested the form several times. Very few e-mails come though to his account. There are no SPAM settings and the form emails are not in the SPAM or Junk email folder. Once again this form works perfectly with several other e-mail addresses so, the problem must be his email account. I did contact his customer support.

    I noticed on an e-mail that went through that his From address: [email protected] matched the same as the To address: [email protected]. So his email address was sent from him to him. Is it possible to change the From email address? I found this in the eForm snipplet:
    'from' => isset($from)? $from:$modx->config['emailsender'],
    but I do not know PHP. Can I change this to:
    'from' => isset($from)? $from:$modx->config['[email protected]'],

    I don't want to break this code.

    This does remind me of a problem I had a few years back with PowWeb and these oversold shared servers. Back them I was just losing emails out of thin air. Supposedly nothing was blocking and I was not getting many e-mails, and they were not being sent back. Many times with customer support, phone calls, e-mails you name it and we never could pinpoint the issue or find these lost e-mails. Seems to me their SPAM settings were taking my e-mails because the To and From was the same field (they claimed no). Anybody have issues with LunarPages or have any feedback here I would love to hear it as well.

    This is what happens when customers want to use their own cheap host I guess! Geez just a few more dollars per month and they can be home free on my server! Oh well.

      This is a common problem, I used to have all my email sent to spam on gmail because from and to were the same. Try to use [email protected] in the from parameter of eform.
      [!eForm? &from=`[email protected]` &to=`[email protected]`  !]

      http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/EForm

      Optional Parameters

      &to - Optional
      Email address to send eForm information to For multiple recipients separate emails with a comma (,) If omitted the site settings email address will be used.
      &from - Optional
      Sets the email address to appear in the From section of the email.
      &subject - Optional
      Sets the subject line of the email. WIthout this the default subject is 0.
      &automessage - Optional
      chunk name (non-numeric) or document id (numeric) to use as an auto-responder message Can include [+form fields+]. E.g. [+firstname+] - tags: [form_fields],[postdate] - note: eForm will send the auto-respond message to the email address specified inside the [email] form field.

      Edit: usually the user doesn't use the contact form to contact himself, so keeping the default behaviour is (IMHO) still a better option:
      &from=`((email))`

        To avoid this problem, usually I create a TV, I call it [ *customcode* ] then I place it under the [ *content* ] in my template, and I put ditto, eform, wayfinder etc...there. As a final step I hide the "customcode" TV with ManagerManager for all user with Editor role.

          I've just been struggling with Lunarpages email also. How are you sending it? Are you using SMTP through them or someone else?

          One solution to the problem of having the test emails fail because the To: and From: are the same is to tell the client to put a different email address in the form when testing it.

            Thank you for the replies. Good to know about how to hide the contact info from the customer. Anytime they load the TinyMice editor it messes up the snipplet code anyway. So this is good information. I will change the email address in the From field and see what happens.

            BobRay, I was only sending mail through the eForm however that sends (direct PHP? I don't see any SMTP settings for the form) He seems to be getting emails from everyone else except the important ones. Funny, he has more SPAM today than I can count, yet his important contact emails get tagged! I guess that's the way it work sometimes smiley

              I hate to say it, but Gmail has a an incredibly good spam filter (for me, at least). It's been 6 months since anything important ended up in my spam folder, and I see about two spam messages per week in my inbox. I have several email addresses out and about, but they all forward to Gmail, and Gmail is configured to reply from the address they came in on.

              This cloud thing might just catch on. wink

                The hosting panel wants "Exact location and name of the configuration file for the form mail script where we can check the email settings and try to make some changes for testing."

                Do I give them the log in information in MODx and tell them all the setup components and where to go for this eForm script in MODx, or is there a back end file that I can send them too that is located in the FTP area? If I can send them directly to a file on the server it would be much better if possible, I just don't know which file to send them to.

                  I could be wrong, but I think eForm will allow you to use a config file rather than properties in the snippet tag. If so, you could give them that.

                    That is what they are looking for (the config file). I have been looking in my file system for a config file that goes with eForm (Don't know what it's called so looking for config.php). Do you know where I can find this file?

                      Thank you for your help! I just gave the hosting company access to the control panel with a temporary account and then deleted it.

                      Here is what Lunar Pages posted:
                      I have placed the request to have the IP de-listed, please allow up to 72 hours for this to take effect. I had also checked over 100 other blacklists and the IP does not appear on them at this time.

                      He is now receiving his mail again. I knew their root level server filters caught his e-mail, I wish they would let the account email filters do this. Anyway, adding the noreply@ helped and adding the form code to a TV and calling up this TV on the contact us page is a blessing. I will use this method on all my MODx sites for now on.

                      Lessons learned!!
