Safe to delete Gallery package zip file?

Hi there,

I've recently upgraded Gallery to 1.5.0, and there's a file sitting in the /core/packages/gallery-1.5.0-rc1/modCategory folder called 173d13ae9f6d5634a4121f15f1ffdf26.0.preserved.zip, which is taking up nearly 18MB of space.

Is it safe to delete that file using FTP? I don't want to remove the whole Gallery package from the site, just clear out some space

in fact, do the unzipped files need to be kept, as the files contained within are all moved to the ./core/components folder by the look of it...?

When I say 'kept' I am thinking to put them in an external archived store rather than upload to the server...

It's generally a bad idea because the package names will still be stored in the DB and you'll get a lot of errors in the log and possibly delays in loading Package Manager when MODX looks for the files.

If you want to regain the space, the safest thing would be to progressively uninstall and remove all versions of the package, then re-download and re-install the current version.

You could delete the package and the corresponding record in the modx_transport_packages table, but I'm not sure what the side-effects might be.
