I’ve tried several ways in phpMyAdmin to sync/merge the database, but never with much success.

I did come across a bug post which seems to detail the need for such a feature. http://modxcms.com/bugs/task/437

So in the mean time, what are people work flows for TEST << >> LIVE production for the MODx sites??

Are you developing locally? If so, check this http://www.modxcms.com/moving-sites-to-new-servers.html
If not, and maybe you’re just developing in a subdirectory you shouldn’t have to change the db at all. I believe that’ll just require you to edit a couple paths and perhaps the .htaccess files (depending on your url-rewriting usage and method).. I will actually be doing this a couple times in the next week or two, I’ll post if I overlooked anything.

Thanks for your reply robot. I probably didn’t explain myself fully.

I develop locally but what I want to be able to do is add content locally as well then upload the newest db changes. Adding additional files from assets is simple but when it comes to adding the content done locally live it’s not quite as fluid.

I’m sure most would say do it live but don’t publish it, but.

What I’ve tried doing is merging any changes on the local database with the live database using various applications and phpMyAdmin. All with not much success. I suppose I’m looking for a WinMerge method for the database, hence why http://modxcms.com/bugs/task/437 seems quite interesting and desperatly needed.

Unless someone has a work around...

Oh gotcha. I misunderstood unfortunately, and haven’t encountered that scenario. Would definitely streamline the dev to live workflow. Good luck!
