i installed revolution 2.2 in my host and then applied the simple blog all in one add-on which installed a lower version of quip and getresource. Is it possibl for me to just install uptodate quip directly over the top of the preinstalled older version to update it?

the addon i used was the modxss
Should be possible - there should just be an update button. It should also be possible to revert back to the older version if needed after updating. I say should because I have not had the most pleasant experiences with the Package manager recently.
