Hi. I am using 9.6, though I only upgraded after I started having an issue with the manager logging me out. The issue returned within days of the upgrade.

I can get into my manager without issue, but as soon as I click to edit something I get logged out. Occasionally it will let me edit a page, but when I click to save, it logs me out. Another admin can’t even get past the captcha, even though she is positive she is entering the correct code.

We are both using FireFox 2.0, though other users and admins are using it also and having no issues. We have cleared cache, cookies, temp files, everything we can think of, to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Who is hosting your site? It isn’t MediaTemple by any chance is it? If so, then this thread sorted out a similar problem I was having: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,13648.0.html

Thanks, but we are on a dedicated server.

I work with Georgie as more of a tech person at our site. I think these are also worth mentioning:

          - Her primary browser is Firefox, the latest version of it.
          - She can access MODx using IE with no problems.
          - She can access the demo at opensourcecms using Firefox without any problems. She stays logged in and has no problems.

Are there any server settings that we should look for that might be causing her to get logged out? I have no idea what’s going on.

It’s likely an issue of domain -- make sure any plugins and other resources used in the manager (resource browser in TinyMCE) do not hardcode the domain to www.domain.tld or domain.tld if you allow access via both URLs. This should be determined by the URL used when they accessed the login originally.

I would advise that you force all requests to one or the other via mod_rewrite conditions/rules to make sure you don’t access particular manager resources using the wrong URL, which would have a separate session that is not authenticated (causing the "logout" behavior). This should resolve the problem and there is a sample of these rules/conditions in the root ht.access file distributed with MODx.

That makes sense, Jason. What code should I use to put in the .htaccess file? I know of code you use to redirect all of the traffic to www, but I just want it so it works with the MODx manager and that’s it.

              Thanks for your help.

I’m sorry to bump up this post, but does anyone have any ideas about the code needed?
