Little Snitch

    It's a real eye-opener installing Little Snitch on my Mac. I had no idea that Safari and Firefox (especially Safari!) contacted so many places on start-up! Some fairly obvious, like a few news feeds from large news sources, but others - who knows? Anyway, I took fiendish delight in "forever" blocking them all and paid for the copy of Little Snitch.

      i guess this is basically the same for Windows: http://sphinx-soft.com/Vista/order.html the free version is sufficient
