I'm having this in the error console multiple times when installing Articles or other specific Extras like Quip. I've checked all three settings in php.ini and are enabled.

[2012-04-05 15:49:03] (ERROR @ /modx/connectors/workspace/packages.php) MODX could not download the file. You must enable allow_url_fopen, cURL or fsockopen to use remote transport packaging.

I'm using modx revo 2.2.1, xamp + win xp
The same happened with the previous version

I believe this is a side affect of the Articles installer. It is adding package records for the subpackages it installs that do not have a valid source value and this error is triggered by the package management interface when getting the data for the package. This should be entered as an issue with the Articles Extra.

As a workaround, you might be able to fix it by forcing removal of the Archivist and Taglister packages, then downloading and reinstalling them. That way they should have valid source values.

BTW, I just helped another user on whose site the Archivist and Taglister packages were marked as installed in Package Manager but were not actually installed.

Thanks for the help. I will check if Bob's suggested workaround can fix it. Will enter this as an issue for the Articles extra.
