MODX Evolution: Manager Restyle Project

Everything in the updated demo looks ace. Great work getting the LHS/RHS relative resizing working, that works a treat now.

I agree with you microcipcip, the resource ID is handy. As a website builder I like it - and certainly for some sites, it does come in handy for clients but most of the time they don't need it. I also agree that it can confuse users and the tree does look much cleaner without the numbers. The option to hide it from certain user levels is an excellent idea (in manager manager or as a tools > configuration option?)

(The other nice thing about doc numbers in the tree is it reminds you how many resources you are away from the 5000 doc caching issue before you have you to cry for HELP in the forums! Then again maybe its good not to know...)

In the "Edit Resource actions buttons", I really like the 3 little icons on the very RHS for "add another, continue editing, close". That is much slicker than the current select box method in <1.0.6.

In the "Site Tree icons": I think it would be nice to save some space and combine the 2 separate functions for "Expand All" and for "Collapse All" into the one "Toggle All" function with title hover "Toggle All", "Toggle Site Tree" or "Toggle to Expand / Collapse Site Tree". (the icon could be the current up arrow closely positioned next to the current down arrow - which would tie in with the refresh and sort icons).

(ps The title hover for "Expande all" is currently spelt incorrectly)

The "Show More" and "Show All" buttons could also be consolidated into the one "Toggle Items" depending on how that is going to work.

This is more programming related but given I am looking at a visual and the right people will be listening:

I like to work with the Resource Overview turned off (Tools > Config > Interface & Features > Page Click Behavior : Edit Resource vs View Resource data). Sometimes when building / editing, I want to quickly toggle to the Resource overview without having to save the resource and then use the context menu to see it - that is a little inefficient. Not sure if this is a viable or even sensible solution, but an option to include "Overview" in the Edit resource tabs (eg General / Settings / Access Permissions / Overview) would be really nice and really dynamic (even if it shows a snapshot of where the currently unsaved resource is rather than having to do a full save to see it). Then the option to Remember Tabs from Tools > Config > Interface & Features really comes into play.

I have actually substitute iframes with frames, that's why it works.

I have thought about this, but I don't think it would be a good idea. How do I know if I want to collapse or expand the menu when I click there? Sometimes I have the tree half open and I want to collapse it completely, or sometimes I may want to do the opposite.

I think that WordPress handles this very well. There are two buttons when you write an article: "View Page" and "Preview Changes". "View Page" displays the page currently published, "Preview Changes" displays the changes made before hitting the "Save" Button. I think this feature should be added in conjunction with some kind of versioning control.

Although KCFinder is visible to two panes, it is a single pane in fact.
Screen is not redraw unlike the Revo, operation is light.
Is this possible?

great stuff re the 5000 doc caching issue - I was more having a go at some humour re doc numbers. I thought Yama had solved it and great to receive confirmation.

To me that is exactly what toggling what do - I think it is the same concept with one button, remembering the state of half expanded folders.

Don't know, it was very early in the morning when I wrote it - you put the buttons there and I interpreted what they might do and that one magic toggle button (like one CMS) could do it all.

Re KCFinder. I think what is meant is that the KCFinder window isn't two panes, one for the file list and one for the icon view, so it doesn't keep re-drawing either pane when something gets selected.

I personally really like the elRTE and elFinder JQuery editor and file manager, and would love to see them used. I would be willing to pay for customization of elRTE that ignores MODx tags (treating them like comment tags, only still displaying them) as a proper configurable plugin.

Menu is hidden.


Anchor driven page control. Like the twitter, gmail, etc.
Since a whole page is not rewritten if it is this method, it is light.
At the time of 097, Revo was also such.

...This needs to make a function from PHP.
Since it is not important at present as a design work, it proposes after.
(I think that copy operation of current MODX is inconvenient)
