Help! Blog posts, comments and archive pages not showing

Hi,

Tearing my hair out a little over this! :p

I'm building a new website with Evolution and want to use the blog function. I've used the tools from the blog on the demo site installed with Evolution; however, when I click on a post's title to see the post in full, I get the following error message:

The requested URL /modx/blog/index.php was not found on this server.

The same happens when I press the Comments link. I've added some dummy blog posts to the ones in the Blog container under the demo site and they're all published; when I try and look at them in via the Quick Manager (even the demo ones), I get the same error message.

Also, when I try to look at the Archive link, and also switch pages to see previous posts via pagination links at the bottom of the page, the page just refreshes itself.

This happens on the blog page I've set up, and on the blog page in the demo site.

Help!! Any tips and advice will be much appreciated!

Could you please provide additional details of the server?

My first question is have you turned on Friendly URLs and if so have you renamed the ht.access file to .htaccess?

In answer to your questions about Friendly URLs and the ht.access file, yes and yes

Server operating system is Linux, PHP is version 5.3.8 and MySQL version is 5.1.61.

Need any more info?

Is the site working in general? Is MODX in a subdirectory? Do you have the base element set in the head of the document? Do you have a link we could see?

I've only got two pages to it so far, but they're working

Base element is in the head content too. Is there anything else I could be missing in terms of setup maybe?

If you've set up FURLs and .htaccess right, your pages' URLs should be normal ones with no index.php?q= stuff, e.g. http://www.nicholaspinnock.com/modx/testnews.html

It looks as if you have MODX in a subdirectory, so you'd need to add a line in .htaccess to tell Apache about it

Hi there have tried what you suggested and it's not worked. I amended the file, took out the index.php?q= from the Configuration settings, and I got the same error message I did with the blog pages. Any other ideas as to how I can fix that?

Can you post a screenshot of your Friendly URLs settings from Tools > Configuration, and a code view of your .htaccess, so we're talking about the same things?

Also worth doing so as to start from a known point, check how things go if you disable FURLs and rename .htaccess back to ht.access, i.e. does your setup work without FURLs. It should do, with URLs in the format ..../index.php?q=X, where X is the ID number of the resource.

Screenshot is attached of what I had in the Configuration settings for FURLs. I've now turned off FURLs and everything works ok with the blog posts. If I could get them and FURLs to work at the same time, that would be fab
