Why everything seems dead ?

I still contribute to the forums, but I can put my finger(s) on exactly why it's less pleasant than it used to be (in descending order of importance to me):

• Gateway timeouts that always seem to come at the worst times (got about 10 last night)
• Back button no longer works to get back to "unread posts" in Chrome when you've made a reply
• Recent posts limited to 10 posts
• *My* recent posts limited to 10 posts
• Ending a line with certain closing tags or a smiley eats a carriage return
• URLs mangled in code sections
• A reply that creates a new page doesn't take you to the new page, so you think your reply didn't post (happened on this post, and when edited it to add this, I got kicked bad to page 1 )
• Sigs no longer visible without extra effort
• Hard-to-read colors

It will make a huge difference for me if these are corrected.

Sad, the MODX community was great, and now not so cool.

Daniel, I don't know that the MODX Community is less cool. One of the problems (outside the UX issues) is the influx of new folks are coming in and there's not the same ratio of ambassadors able to handle them in the same way it used to be.

The team has admittedly been less involved than we should. We're making time for everyone to be in the forums and more frequently.

We are seeing many more people helping and doing the great work in the community but as Bob points out there are some user experience issues that make it frustrating and slow and therefore makes participating an exercise in patience rather than lively discussion and we're working on that as best we can with the resources we have. We've identified most of the issues including most of the ones Bob listed and a number of others that we and many folks have highlighted.

Daniel, have you any thoughts on what could right this in your opinion? Any way you could help?

i admit i'm less on the form as i used to be.

just some words:
some old links are dead, redirecting after login on same page doesn't work, old attached files are missing. (setting up your profile is harder), and some more

also really really hope Evo is getting a boost and there will be developed some new packages/modules.
modx is still best out here

I'm really sorry to say it but I have to agree with Daniel, but because of the reasons Bobby says.,

I don't answer anything on here that will take me more than 1 min simply because I can't spare the time to re type everything when i get a Gateway timeout.

I used to be really active on the old forums but find this one to have a lot of bugs and although Sean has done a fantastic job developing it it's not ready for public release after months of being live on here, so if it's not ready for public release, the team don't have the time to develop it and theres alot of more important things going on in the MODX area like the cloud and MODX3 why not turn this back round, drop the forum system completely and go back to something that works and will keep the community active !!!

I'm not having a dig, I really want MODX to work and earn you all millions, but your loosing the core that has helped with the forums over the years and there the core you really need to keep.

Just a note. As far as I can tell, every one of the issues I listed over two months ago in the post above is still happening.

I'm confident that the team will address them, and I know that they have many other things to do, but it seems to be taking an awfully long time and the Forums are a critical part of how people perceive MODX.

Hey folks, as a matter of coincidence we are preparing to make the changes to the forums to resolve the performance issues, design issues and fix the broken stuff. Some of what Bob lists can be addressed on the live site but most of the others related to the function of Discuss (the addon used for the forums) needs to be done in a development environment as it has to follow a develop, commit, stage, test, package, install workflow. We have dedicated a couple team members to work on these issues in the coming weeks. In addition, we'll be improving the organization, returning some of the common UI features of the old forums.

Another note: it appears as if there is something new going on with the forums that may be server or table related. I have requested it be reviewed immediately as these Gateway Timeouts being so frequent is worse than ever over the last 48 hours.
