Why does Articles alter site_content table?

Hello

Is there a reason for Articles adding two columns to the site_content table and not extending modResource using a separate table for the two columns? The reason I ask (to further my understanding of MODx) is because I thought best practice was to not alter the core tables in an extra as in the 'Extending modUser' tutorial?

Which two field do you mean Articles is adding?

This was done in one version of Articles, and later reverted not to do so. The upgrades to latest should remove the extra columns the earlier versions added. It now uses the new properties field/API from modResource rather than making changes to the table, to conform with the "best practices" you refer to.
