what's the difference between getChunk and putChunk?

hi there,

according to the documentation the following code is used to return a chunk within a snippet.
however both lines appear to do the same thing. what’s the difference between them?

return $modx->getChunk(’chunkName’);
return $modx->putChunk(’chunkName’);

getChunk(’chunkName’); pulls a chunk into your program so you can do with it what you will. Such as replace values in it.

$modx->putChunk(’chunkName’); sends the chunk to the MODx page you are viewing.

They really are the same; basically just aliases for each other and simply a set of legacy functions inherited from Etomite. In 0.9.7, getChunk gets some additional functionality and putChunk gets deprecated, so getChunk is the preferred method for now.
