I thought I had found a plugin at one point but can't seem to find anything now. It may have been that I had just researched it on the web though. Is there a capability with a plugin for Revolution to collect the basic user information on a form plus some other more detailed information such as location?
Basically, I am looking to collect the following:
-site visit/form visit time stamp
-location user is at based on IP address (just a city name is fine)
-how many times that IP address has viewed the site or form
Basically, the form will only collect an email address, name, phone number, plus some very basic info pertaining to their request. They can obviously put in a fake name, email, and phone, but I would be interested to collected location data on that particular info request to log it in the contact management software I use for future marketing use when I am going to market to a location (say people in New York area that have requested info).
I noticed there is a plugin to collect a country code, but that's it. If any one has any thoughts for me please let me know.

There is an HTML 5 feature to get location information; the user must allow it though. Check the "Where In The World Are You" block on the right side of this page.

This uses some Javascript or Google Gears if the browser doesn't support the geolocation feature natively. You can see the javascript at the bottom if you view the page source. It's the "geolocation.js" javascript. The SitePoint book, "HTML 5 and CSS 3 For the Real World", that is demonstrated on that page has a full discussion on browser geolocation. There are also a number of tutorials on the Internet, such as

If that doesn't float your boat (IE doesn't have native support) you can try this

Google is your friend.
Thanks for the reply sottwell. I was hoping that it would be something unseen on the back end that could note a users general ip address to I could retain that information for general use later on. If they are going to have to go thru extra steps to let it get logged then it doesn't make any sense for me since the whole idea is to have the basic form submitting process be seamless and quick. I guess I could easily put a block in the form that asks what city they are connecting from, but I am sure half the data I get back from that would be inaccurate anyways!

You can get the IP address and store it, I do that with my contact form
<?php
function getServer( &$fields ){
// remote_addr
$fields['remote_addr']=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
$fields['remote_host']=$_SERVER['REMOTE_HOST'];
$fields['user_agent']=$_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];
//return succes
return true;
}
?>
All I do with it is add it to the email report, but you could save it and use a service like
