Just wondering if this is normal behavior?
Shouldn't the whole of /core/cache get cleaned out on cache clear?

Probably and its probably good that the error log is not deleted with a cache clear - If something is not working many of us try clearing the cache to see if it helps, it is a good thing that the error log does not disappear otherwise further trouble shooting would be made much more difficult.

You can delete the log manually using ftp or with the modx file manager (at least in revo 2.2 you can) - It is often suggested to manually clear the cache, you can completely delete the cache directory/folder and all its contents - it will be recreated - this obviously will delete your error log as well

A 4G error log - time to delete it I think!

lol, yeah defo - time for deletion.

However - each server that I had come across so far already has a PHP error log of some kind.
I usually refer to this when I am troubleshooting.
Was this file copy needed so people on shared servers/etc can easily trace errors?
