    Hi,

I was editing a template lately, when it struck me. I edit my site remotely using fish:// and Quanta on Linux. I can edit all the referenced .css files remotely, but if i wanted to make a change to the markup i have to login into MODx and follow this routine:

    - select template
    - copy/paste markup to quanta
    - edit markup
    - copy/paste new markup to template (overwriting old markup)
    - save template

I wish i could add a template file, and refer to it as a standalone .html file in stead of adding all the markup to a <textarea> form. Then i could edit the template using my favorite editor remotely just as easy as i edit the referenced .css files.

IMHO it makes sense to be able to reference a template as a standalone file, since a designer references to .css, .js, images and flash content from within that template. All referenced files are accessible through the filesystem except the master template ’file’.

Is it possible to place a reference from the template <textarea> to an external file, as one would do in a ’server side include’ way??

    Edit:

    Template as file:
