We're running an installation of Evolution 1.0.5 for a .edu website of over 4000 pages. Following a recent redesign of the site, we disabled all manager editors except for the three employees within the web design department, and have been receiving edits to the site from various folks on campus via e-mail and doing the edits ourselves. We want to begin allowing other people on campus to have the ability to create and/or edit documents on the site, but we want any of their edits to go to a review stage where we can approve them before they go live. I've looked at the Restricted Editor function which allows someone to edit a document, but not publish it, but the problem we have with using that is that if they make an edit to a document, the document becomes unpublished until we look at it to review. That's impractical for us, because if someone edits a document on a Friday afternoon and we're not able to review it until Monday, any link to that page on the public site would return a 404 error.

Has anyone developed any plugins or custom manager user permissions for MODx Evo that would permit us to accomplish what we need to do?
