I’ve been trying to get user groups and document groups set up for a site. This is the first time I’ve done it. Here’s what I’ve done:

    - Set ’use access permissions’ to ’Yes’.
    - Created a role with the following permissions: ’Edit a document’, ’Save documents’, ’Publish documents’, ’View Unpublished documents’ and ’Use the file manager’
    - Created a dummy user in the above role
    - Assigned the user to a user group
    - Created two document groups, with half of my documents assigned to one and half to the other.
    - Linked the user group to one of the document groups

However, when I log in as that dummy user, if I go to the Manager, I can edit all documents, even those in the document group I’m not supposed to be able to edit. If I go to the QuickEdit, I can’t edit any documents at all, even those that I am supposed to be able to edit.

What am I doing wrong here?

    I’m using 0.9.6.

    Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

      It should work !

The only thing which comes to mind would be :
      1) the user group you set is a web user group not a manager user group -> that can happen
      2) you did not enable acces permission in Tools > Configuration > User >> Use access permissions : Yes

Sadly not. It’s a manager user group and I’ve enabled the user access permissions. sad

And you already assigned them to the user group through their profile... I am puzzled huh

Let’s double check : when you go in Security > Manager Permissions and check user groups what does "Users in group:" say ? Same in the document groups tab, what does " Documents in group" say ?

Hi David. Oddly, having now tried this on a different computer and a different browser, I’m now getting what I expect in the manager interface. I’m wondering if there was some issue with sessions or cookies persisting after logout? Don’t know enough about them to tell, but I guess it doesn’t matter.

I’m still not getting a QuickEdit interface, though. Is there something specific that I need to set for this role/user to enable the QuickEdit interface to work for them? QuickEdit works fine for the Administrator login, just not for this more limited role.

(To answer your question, although it may now not be relevant, Users in group lists this user, and documents in group lists the documents that I need the user to edit, so that is all as it should be.)

Let’s say it doesn’t matter as long as it’s exceptionnal (issue with cookies can happen).

Bug reports indicate this is not (luckily) a recurring problem.

It’s not completely intuitive, you have to give the role the ability to run a module (in Role > Module Management you have to tick "Run Module".)

              :)

                Awesome! It now works perfectly.

It does make sense. I’d just never have thought of it myself.

                Thanks!

Glad your problem is fixed smiley

It’s not so obvious at first, I had the same issue when I started it was easy to figure it out !
