Hi All,
I’m stuck with a little quandry that I’m hoping there is a solution for.
I have a site which has a drop down menu bar. Works Great. On one of the links it goes to a page that uses a different template which only has a side menu.
The folder structure is:
Home - Container
Folder 1 - Container
SubFolder 2
SubFolder 3
Item 5 - File
Item 6 - File
Item 7 - File
SubFolder 4
Item 8 - File
Item 9 - File
Item 10 - File
SubFolder 11
The master template which uses dropdown menus goes three tiers down. Which would allow you to access menu: Folder 3 or 4.
When you reach either of those pages the template changes and a side menu shows you the children of the page you hit.
[[Wayfinder? &startId=`[*id*]` .....]]
With you reach Folder 3 your menu becomes:
Item 5 - File
Item 6 - File
Item 7 - File
That is great but when you click on a link for Item 5 the page is displayed and the side menu changes (to nothing as there is nothing) but I want it to remain with the above list yet be dynamic so when you goto Folder 4 your menu changes to:
Item 8 - File
Item 9 - File
Item 10 - File
I really hope that makes sense cos I’ve bust the website and I’m waiting for it to restart which will probably be morning.
I’ve tried UltimateParent but I’m struggling getting it to work. I’ve also tried GetParent which was looking more promising as I was getting its immediate parent.
I want to use the same template for different products but I want each products child to remain as a menu link.
Can you help?
[Edit] - I have sorted this out by creating a TV and using it in the [[Wayfinder]] call. The template being used is in a specific area so its not so problematic when new pages are made. Its dirty but it worked great!
