    Hi All,

This might already be in place and I can’t find it. Is there a way to simply browse to a file when creating a weblink? It seems crazy that we have to remember the exact path for every file we want to add. My client has dozens of PDF files that need to be linked in the menu. This will take hours to manually type the path for every one.

It would also be really nice not to have to type in the link attributes for everyone to have them open in a new page.

Any one come up with ways to do this?

    Thanks,
    Crawford.

One approach is to write a quick PHP script (read: MODx snippet) to read the directory and output links to each of the PDF files contained within it.

        Thanks for the reply Jason.

Unfortuntaely I am no coder. I would be willing to pay for this to happen though. Depending on the cost of course. I’ll post something in the Commercial Inquiries & Bounties forum. To me this really should be a part of the core anyway.

        Thanks,
        Crawford.

Being able to represent actual files of just about any type in the MODx tree, and do so in a variety of ways, is something that is on our roadmap. It is simply not a trivial feature to add and I was suggesting writing a targeted snippet/plugin to get just what you needed done in the meantime, without adding all of those files to the MODx document tree (i.e. write a custom menu generator for that section), which could affect your site’s overall performance with large numbers of these web links.
