I have a problem with WayFinder, performance, it becomes very slow with very large menus. I have a site that:

    - uses suckerfish for dropdowns & flyouts
    - has menus up to 9 levels deep [the biggest problem]
    - has hundreds of pages
    - has registered user content

    So:

    - Client will not change the content structure to try to eliminate menu levels [as I understand it wayfinder starts getting slow after 3 or so]
    - the navigation changes based on who is logged in [about 10 different groups] ~ so I can't cache the wayfinder call.

Are there any options for a plugin that performs better in these type situations?

    -thanks

I don't think you'll find one. You can write your own custom menu processor, but with all that going on, it will be faster than Wayfinder, but probably still slow.

Are you calling Wayfinder cached? If not, calling it cached will certainly speed things up after the first page load.

      Use
      [[Wayfinder ...

      instead of
      [[!Wayfinder ...
