  What are your circumstances? Are you going to start a new site? Or do you have an older site on Evo?

  No, no. I just think that the Evo was the best and only competitive solution for MODx and without Evo MODx will not be competitive with other CMS.
  Without Evo MODx will be no better Drupal, for example. IMHO.

  Trust me, there is no comparison between Revo and Drupal. I suggest you dive into Revo and see for yourself what you can do with it.
  
  I resisted for years, but now I wouldn't go back unless I really had to for some reason. I'm undertaking the rather painful process of porting the handful of Evo sites I manage to Revo simply because going back to deal with these Evo sites is even more painful.
  
  You know, this whole situation reminds me of a Bichon Frise puppy I bought at a pet store. He was in good health, but had been stuck in a cage with only one hour day in a small enclosed play area for literally half his life (these dogs are non-allergenic and very expensive so nobody bought him for two months). When I got him home, he immediately ran into the nearest corner, and it took him three days to venture out of that small space. Sometimes it takes time to get comfortable with a new, expanded possibility. [ed. note: sottwell last edited this post 14 years ago.]

  as you were not totally innocent in my going for evo once i have a little question if you don't mind, have you made a mulitilingual website with revo ? and if so, have you managed to find out a solution for it not being too slow on the front end ?
  
  by the way, don't know why but specificaly on this topic the forum throws an error
  Notice: Undefined variable: adj in /home/modx/revo-core/components/discuss/hooks/pagination/build.php on line 146
  is it because we are still speaking about evo :-D

  Re the error notice, I suspect it's to do with the thread size - I posted about this yesterday. Surely nobody would ever need more than 640KB of memory in a PC? Or over 50 pages for a discussion thread??

  actually the error says that there is an undefined var (adj) line 146 in the pagination build page
  
  and just for the fun, i once ran a forum (i gave to someone else a year and a half ago) that has some threads with hundreds of pages and that currently keep growing, well, of course, it's about gipsy music, not the same kind of subject

  Well, this is a non-public beta of a native Revo forum, so you have to expect some oddities. It will get taken care of eventually; they don't have time to provide support for it right now which is why they withdrew the public beta some time ago.
  
  And no, I haven't done multi-language in Revo yet.
  
  As they say, horses for courses, and whatever tool meets your needs is the best one for you. I'm just saying don't stay with Evo out of habit.

  thanks for your answer and beleive me, i won't get stuck with evo just out of habit, as i often say here, i try every new revo release but, so far, 9 out of 10 of my websites being multilingual, evo does the job far better and faster, now, i would so like revo being the future tool, it would break my heart to go for another cms but customers don't care for my heart but for their website speed and usability
  
  let's see how it goes with the coming cloud that's said to take the best from both evo and revo

  If you are wondering about Evo vs. Revo take a look at https://forums.modx.com/thread/1715/evo-or-revo (and probably other threads also). Personally I'd advise you first and foremost to look at posts with specific hard evidence, as opposed to those which merely say such as "Evo/Revo is terrible" or "Evo/Revo is ace" but lack evidence or reasoning - IMHO there are too many fanboy posts that add nothing to a logical discussion.
  
  I think you already may know what I would prefer. Evo is not dead, and there are at least two groups developing the codebase independently of MODx - the Japanese community and http://www.clippercms.com. [ed. note: TimGS last edited this post 14 years ago.]
